You can keep the pool water surface clean from leaves and other floating debris (e.g., poplar seeds) using a skimmer. The large surface area gets dirty quite quickly because the wind blows plant debris from trees and bushes into it. The sight of insects floating on the water's surface is quite discouraging, but these impurities can be easily removed with the skimmer.
